NEW Paid Internship w/Balto. City Dept of Housing & Com. Dev

HUMAN SERVICES INTERN FOR PROJECT FRESH BEGINNINGS

Baltimore Community Action Partnership in partnership with New Psalmist Baptist Church will implement Project Fresh Beginning. This innovative program provides nutritional education and food resources to help low-income families sustain a healthy lifestyle and household budget.  Our participating families are given the knowledge and skill necessary to develop healthy fresh food choices in their community through our use of dialogue learning. This approach to instruction allows the families to actively engage in their learning and make a personal meaning of the workshop material thus creating a greater chance to elicit behavior change. In addition, we provide the families an opportunity to demonstrate their new skills on the last week of the four week initiative through a Shopping Matters tour. The Shopping Matters tour brings the families directly to the grocery store for a dynamic learning experience of comparing unit prices and food labels; identify whole grain, and identify at least three economical ways of purchasing fruits and vegetables.
