Real Food Farm seeks an Education Intern- open to all majors

Real Food Farm is Civic Works’ innovative urban agricultural enterprise engaged in growing fresh produce on six acres of land in Clifton Park in northeast Baltimore. Real Food Farm broke ground in October 2009 and since then has been busy growing food, educating youth, partnering with community organizations, and bringing more real food to Northeast Baltimore.
A Paid EDUCATION INTERN IS NEEDED. The position would require a 120 hour commitment (8-10 hours per week starting in September). The intern would be paid a $1,000 stipend (2 payments of $500 by UMBC via the Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship Innovation and Social Change).

Position Description:
Real Food Farm is seeking an enthusiastic individual to assist with education programming and program development. The candidate should have experience working with youth of diverse ages and backgrounds in an experience-based setting. Knowledge of farming, agriculture, and/or environmental education would strengthen the candidate’s application but is not required. The Education Intern will be supervised by the Education Coordinator, and will work as part of a team as well as individually when completing projects and facilitating activities with youth. Students seeking a degree related to education, public health, nutrition, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Afternoon work hours are preferred.
Responsibilities include:
Facilitating field trip activities alongside other farm staff.
Facilitating and engaging participants during service learning projects.
Curriculum development for various education programs.
Organizing a cohesive curriculum library for the different education programs offered by RFF.
Outreach to schools and organizations that serve youth in the Baltimore area.
Up to 8 hours weekly, depending on interest, assisting the production staff on the farm.
Other responsibilities designated by the Education Coordinator.
