SDS Peer Mentor Program – Mentor Application

The Office of Student Disability Services (SDS) mentor program is designed to assist students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with enhancing their study time management test-taking stress management and social skills. Mentors will meet with their assigned mentees for a minimum of three hours per week during which time the pair will use provided material to learn about and practice the aforementioned skills. Selected mentors will be required to complete a one-day orientation track the hours spent with their mentee participate in a mid-semester check in with the program coordinator and complete an evaluation at the end of the mentor program. The mentor program will last 15 weeks during the fulsome master 2019. The deadline for turning in your application is May 23rd so be sure to apply by then!
Mentors will be enrolled in the 096 Community Service & Learning Practicum, and upon completion of all program requirements, mentors may list participation in the program on the resumes and will have the 096 Practicum notated on their official transcript. Mentors will also gain an increased awareness about disability issues and have the opportunity to help students with ASD succeed in college
