Student Ambassadors for local elem/middle schools visits

Exciting opportunity to work with local school children!

The Shriver Center is in need of Student Ambassadors for the coming school year to help plan and lead local elementary and middle school visits to UMBC!

Student Ambassadors (SA's) will work as a team to plan and lead monthly elementary and middle school visits to UMBC.  SA's will lead a tour of campus with students and their families, plan and lead a STEM activity and a fun game/sporting activity in the RAC, and eat with the students at True Grits during each visit. Each visit is fun and rewarding in many ways, but mostly because it exposes inner city students to college life from an early age.  Studies have shown that early age college exposure increases the chances of college attendance later on.  As an SA, you would directly be part of shaping a young student's future, so we hope that you will join us for this exciting opportunity!

*This is also a Service Learning opportunity, which means that Student Ambassadors will have this experience listed on their transcript if they complete the entirety of the program.  For more information about this exciting opportunity, please open and review the attached flyer.
