Public Service Scholarship Awards for Engaged Students

Apply by March 4th!

The following two awards are available for fall 2013. 
We ask that students apply by Monday, March 4th.

The Samson, Rosetta A., and Saddie Feldman Award and Samuel I. Rosenberg Fund Award will be given to two deserving UMBC students.  Any student who has successfully completed at least a single semester of a Co-op, Internship, Service-Learning, or International Work & Service placement is eligible to apply for these scholarships.  The scholarship award can only be used toward tuition for Fall 2013.  Graduating seniors and anyone on a full scholarship are not eligible for this scholarship.

TO APPLY:  Submit your resume, unofficial transcript and essay below by 5:00 pm on Monday, March 4th to The Shriver Center on the main level of the Public Policy Building.  You can also e-mail the information to Shirley Carrington at the Shriver Center at shirleyc@umbc.edu.  In an essay of 250 works or less, explain how your intern and/or service experience(s) impacted you as a person, your career and personal goals, and your connection with the UMBC community and society, in general.

The Samson, Rosetta A., and Saddie Feldman Award- $650 scholarship award
Established in January 1996 by Sadie B. Feldman in memory of her family.  The spendable income shall be used to provide an award to a UMBC student who has completed his/her junior year of studies and has demonstrated, through community service and academic activities, an understanding of the responsibilities of citizenship.
 
Samuel I. Rosenberg Fund- $625 scholarship award
Established in April 1995 by Samuel I. Rosenberg.  The spendable income shall be used to provide an annual award to recognize a student at UMBC who has completed an outstanding apprenticeship within the citizenship and public policy initiative.
