Database Developer Intern: UMBC works position ID 9253789

Database Developers design and implement multi-terabyte operational marketing databases that integrate our client's data with demographic data for prospects and consumers. Our databases typically house a hundred million individuals and billions of transactions. As an intern, you will be immersed in the development and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server database solutions to meet client business objectives, and have an opportunity to work with a cross-disciplinary team across various divisions of the Technology Solutions Group. You’ll learn basic database development techniques and gain insight into the world of database marketing with one of the industry leaders. 

Position Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain SQL scripts
• Build and maintain DTS packages 
• Build and maintain production SQL jobs 
• Build and maintain complex SQL queries for data analysis and data extract 
• Build and maintain ETL scripts 
• Build and maintain data mart extraction processes 
• Perform quality assurance and testing at the unit level 
• Assist in writing user and technical documentation 

Position Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science or related IT field
• Basic understanding of development and maintenance of database solutions using SQL Server or Oracle
• Basic understanding of ETL, what tools are used, and how they are used in the development process
• General knowledge of software engineering and applying database methodologies, techniques, and tools
• Class work in database marketing is a plus.
