Canterbury Road Partners, a Baltimore-based technology company, is
looking to hire several UMBC students for part time fall internships.

Interns who work well with us work very hard, are curious about science and business, and are up for an adventure. We offer very good on-the-job training, coaching and feedback; lots of responsibility; and the chance to help build something spectacular.

Internship #1: Marketing and Business Development Director
Description:
- Design and create marketing materials (50% of total internship time), including op-eds, presentations, and product overviews.
- Assist with business development efforts (40%), including the development of client proposal, and conducting market research interviews.
- Participate in professional development (10%), including ongoing informal coaching and feedback on the above projects; formal structured feedback sessions; attending webinars and events, conducting and reviewing related research.
Best suited for someone who:
- Understands business and science
- Is a great listener and writer
- Is very organized
- Likes meeting new people
Internship #2 Technology Director
Description:
- Participate in designing and developing the next generation of intellectual property analytic software based on, based on state of the art semantic, linguistic, and network –based analyses (90%).
- Would join a team of computer scientists and applied mathematicians.
- Participate in professional development (10%), including ongoing informal coaching and feedback on the above projects; formal structured feedback sessions; attending webinars and events, conducting and reviewing related research.
Best suited for someone who:
- Is an excellent programmer
- Can generate creative solutions to tricky software challenges
- Enjoys working in teams
Internship #3 Product Development Director
Description:
- Participate in a cross-functional student team, mentored by industry experts, to create and launch a startup company based on new technology (90%).
o Research and build product development models for technology-intensive industries.
o Create product development road map.
o Source and cost the production chain for the new product.
- Participate in professional development (10%), including ongoing informal coaching and feedback on the above projects; formal structured feedback sessions; attending webinars and events, conducting and reviewing related research.
Best suited for someone who:
- Can understand, model and explain complicated processes
- Has a deep knowledge of science or engineering
- Enjoys working in teams
Internship #4 Director, New Venture Launch
Description:
- Participate in a cross-functional student team, mentored by industry experts, to create and launch a startup company based on new technology (90%).
o Develop and test business model.
o Develop financial model.
o Interview potential customers, investors, vendors.
- Participate in professional development (10%), including ongoing informal coaching and feedback on the above projects; formal structured feedback sessions; attending webinars and events, conducting and reviewing related research.
Best suited for someone who:
- Understands business and science
- Has strong analytic skills
- Is a great listener and a clear communicator
- Enjoys working in teams
Compensation and logistics
- Minimum 10, maximum 20 hours per week.
- Internships will be based on campus, location TBD. Approximately 50% of the internship will be working in a team setting, and 50% will be independent work.
- Compensation: unpaid at this time, with a potential of earning a $1,000 stipend
