Join Clean Green Chesapeake as an Algae Cultivation Intern
Clean Green Chesapeake is looking to fill a Fall internship position for an algal cultivation project. The intern will be responsible for assisting in the growth of select microalgal species for a variety of end products. The successful applicant will be involved in examination of two-stage growth conditions and identify key parameters that will illicit maximal accumulation of key metabolites by the algae and maintain consistent batch-to-batch biomass composition.
The intern will work directly with our Research Technician on day-to-day experimental operation of the algae growth facility and will assist with standard analytical equipment operation. An undergraduate pursuing a degree in Chemical or Biomolecular Engineering, Biochemistry, Biological Science or related field is preferred. Strong background and experience in laboratory culture of microorganisms is desired and knowledge of larger-scale suspension cultures and measurement of biomass composition is ideal. The research program will be supervised by scientists at Clean Green Chesapeake and, due to the nature of the work, the intern may work closely with corresponding researchers in the field.
