PAID Summer Software Development Interns - Position #9251303 in UMBCworks
Primary duties will include testing semantic technology systems and applications, support mobile application development and develop semantic technology applications. The successful candidate will demonstrate interest in the area of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Mobile Application Development (Android, iPhone), Semantic Technology and/or Cloud Computing (Ontology development, Resource Description Framework, Natural Language Processing, MapReduce, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
• Pursuing a BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Linguistics or related field
• Graduation date between Dec 2012 and June 2013
• Minimum GPA 3.0
• US citizenship
• Programming skills in JAVA, C#, C/C++, Ruby, etc
• Experience with testing environments such as JUNIT
• Strong communication skills and positive team interaction a must
• Willingness and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Understanding of Web 3.0 concepts
• Experience building Semantic Media Wiki (SMW)
• Software development process understanding / software engineering experience
• Technical document creation experience
• Experience with VMware virtualization products
• Exposure to Hadoop and MapReduce

This position supports the daily operation of company IT infrastructure, IT help desk and the implementation and maintenance of multiple advanced information technology solutions for internal, commercial, and government clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
• BS Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
• Graduation date between Dec 2012 and June 2013
• Minimum GPA 3.0
• US citizenship
• Willingness and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
• Ability to independently identify, diagnose, and resolve network/client issues
• Understanding of network environments and services
• Understanding of Windows Active Directory Domains, Server 2008 functional level
• Some experience with Windows 7, Server 2008 R2, and major Unix/Linux distributions
• Some experience with Unix / Linux CLI
Preferred Qualifications:
• Software development process understanding / software engineering experience
