These positions are located in various offices at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Headquarters in Rockville, MD, Region I- King of Prussia, PA, Region II- Atlanta, GA, Region III- Lisle, IL and Region IV- Arlington, TX. These positions are Non Bargaining Unit.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
U.S. Citizenship Required
Background investigation leading to a clearance is required for new hires.
These are Drug Testing positions.
GPA minimum requirement of 2.85
DUTIES:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) views student interns as our future workforce. The work performed is professional in nature and in a learning environment that gives the student intern the opportunity to evaluate the work for potential long-term employment. Student employment assignments are based on the functions and tasks performed in the organization to which you are assigned and ideally related to your academic and career goals. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
THE NRC is only ACCEPTING applications from students in the following disciplines:
-Business
-Computer Science/Information Technology
-Accounting
-Finance
-Chemical, Mechanical and Computer Engineering
-Health Physics
-Chemistry
-Hydrology
-Geology
-Geophysics
To qualify for these positions you must meet the academic criteria specified below. In addition, an ideal candidate would possess basic skill in using office automation programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, or other desktop software programs. Additionally, the ability to organize work and communicate effectively in a professional environment are highly desirable traits. To qualify at the GG-03 pay level: You must be a high school graduate with 1 to 29 semester hours of college credit. To qualify at the GG-04 pay level: You must be a high school graduate with 30 or more semester hours of college credit. To qualify at the GG-05 pay level: You must be a high school graduate with 60 or more semester hours of college credit. If you are a Graduate Student, your pay level will be based on your undergraduate GPA or the graduate level program you are pursuing.
Applications will be accepted from United States citizens who are degree seeking students enrolled at least half-time in accredited educational institutions. Half-time enrollment is defined by the educational institution. For institutions that do not have a definition of half-time, half of full-time enrollment will be considered half-time.
Qualifications are based on your academic standing as of the end of the 2012/2013 academic year (~May/June 2013).
SONS, STEPSONS, DAUGHTERS, OR STEPDAUGHTERS of CURRENT NRC EMPLOYEES are NOT ELIGIBLE for hire in this Summer Internship Program.

Eligible candidates will be referred to the hiring managers for consideration. We expect to make selections in the February/March 2013 time frame. PLEASE NOTE: This is a highly competitive vacancy with a limited number of openings available.
