Job Description:
We are looking for a Software Engineering Intern to support a NASA program which involves the maintenance and evolution of the EOSDIS ECS system. The ECS system ingests, distributes, and stores on-line earth science data. This system is currently operational at 3 NASA Data Centers. The system runs on a Linux platform and is implemented largely in Java and C++. The ideal candidate will be a highly enthusiastic team member excited about learning new technologies and continually evolving an operational system.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
·Proficiency in JAVA in a Linux or UNIX development environment
·Good communication skills, and capable of working in a structured team environment with other software engineers
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
·Experience with shell scripting, Perl, and C++. Some experience with database applications such as Sybase
·Familiarity with JUnit, Dojo, Groovy, Ajax, and Selenium
Required Education (including Major):
·Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics
·Must have completed Junior year but not started Senior year
· Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
This position requires the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
