PAID Service-Learning Leadership Positions Available

Lead, Learn, and Serve!

With over 700 placements connected with 70+ community partners in 2011-12, The Shriver Center's Service-Learning Program continues to grow because of the dedication and passion of our Service-Learning Interns.  They manage groups of volunteers across a number of issue areas (health, youth, adults, animals, and resource management).  Outreach happens once or twice a week, as well as bi-weekly Service-Learning Intern Meetings (every other Friday, 12-1pm).  These leaders coordinate goal-setting, reflections, and other administrative pieces through The Shriver Center's zero-credit 096 Community Service & Learning Practicum.

Some stipends are available.  All leaders receive a zero-credit Leadership notation on their transcript.  Most sites require driving a Shriver Center van.

This fall, there are a few Leadership Positions available:

College Gardens
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 2:15-5:30 pm (requires driving a van)

The Choice Program's College Night
Mondays, 5:45-8:15 pm (on-campus, no van-driving required)

The Choice Program's Education Team
Wednesdays, 2:30-5:30 pm (ideally will require driving a van)

Go to The Shriver Center's website under "Service-Learning Forms" to complete the Service-Learning Intern Application.  Submit the application to Eloise Grose, Service-Learning Program Coordinator, either in person to The Shriver Center, 1st floor, Public Policy Building, or via email at elgrose1@umbc.edu.  Any questions may also be directed to Eloise at (410) 455-2493.
