Description

Join UMBC students, staff, and faculty for the 8th Annual Service-Learning & Civic Engagement Conference NEXT Saturday, March 28th, 2015!

Come together with 300 students, faculty, staff, and community partners
from the Maryland-DC area for a day of inspiring speakers, workshops, and
networking with individuals dedicated to creating strong civic engagement,
service-learning, and community partnerships in the region.

UMBC is a Maryland-DC Campus Compact member institution, and hosted this event in 2008 (planned by the 2007-08 Shriver Living Learning Community members), and 2013.   Shriver Center Staff Eloise Grose, Hannah Schmitz, and MDCCC AmeriCorps VISTA Nick Ramundo are on the Planning Committee.  UMBC Junior Katie Cano is this year's recipient for the Undergraduate Student Award for Civic Engagement. UMBC is also represented by Amy Poole and Bryan Barry through their workshop presentation, "UMBC SUCCESS:  Expanding the Definition of Diversity through Service and Social Change."

Student registration is $10, Faculty/Staff and Community Partners $25.  With enough notice, transportation may be provided. If you want to explore carpooling as an option and/or connect with other UMBC students, contact Lori Hardesty at lhardesty@umbc.edu.
