Each year, The Shriver Center places over 1,500 UMBC students in internship, cooperative education and research experiences in more than 500 public and private organizations in the Baltimore/Washington area and across the globe. These professional practice programs are a major resource for employers local and national employers and an excellent training ground for students.

By combining classroom study with on-the-job experience, students earn academic credit, grasp the links between theory and practice, and learn valuable job-related habits and skills. Shriver Center students consistently earn exemplary reviews from host organizations, often followed by offers of full-time employment when they graduate.

The Shriver Center also administers the prestigious Governor’s Summer Internship Program, the Maryland Department of Transportation Fellows Internship Program and the Maryland Non-Profit Leadership Program.
