College JUMP Community Liaison Wanted!

College JUMP is looking to expand our leadership team!

College JUMP (Journey Upward Mentor Program) is looking to fill the position of Community Outreach Specialist for the next year or more. College JUMP is a college access initiative for refugee youth. UMBC undergraduate students volunteer as near-peer mentors to 11th and 12th grade refugee students in Baltimore City and County. Mentors and mentees meet on a weekly basis to go over college exploration, application, and preparation. They also participate in monthly events and/or workshops, aimed to expose students to various aspects of college life. Ultimately, College JUMP strives to empower students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to gain admission and free prepared for success in post-secondary institutions.

The program is looking for someone to oversee social media operations as well as community outreach operations with local businesses. Responsibilities include:
-Manage Facebook account for College JUMP
-Manage Twitter account for College JUMP
-Create and distribute College JUMP monthly newsletter
-Manage gmail account for College JUMP
-Visit Baltimore community and local schools/organizations to introduce program
-Participating in program events

Hours: 5-7/week
Stipend: $300/semester
